Changes to Australian Working Holiday Visa schemes

Age and cap increase for certain nationals under Working Holiday Visa scheme; two new reciprocal Work and Holiday arrangements signed

move to australiaThe Australian Government recognises the significant impact of the international workers on the country’s economy as it assists with the post-pandemic recovery.

In 2022-2023 program year only the number of places for nationals from countries with which Australia has a capped Work and Holiday visa (Sc 462) arrangement will increase by 30 per cent. Status of eligible countries’ caps is available here:

Commencing on 1 July 2022:

  • Age increase from 30 to 35 years for the citizens of Italy and Denmark.
  • Cap increase from 200 to 1000 places for the citizens of Slovak Republic
  • ​Cap increase from 200 to 500 places for the citizens of Hungary and Austria.
  • New arrangement with 500 places for the citizens of Brazil
  • New arrangement with 100 places for the citizens of Mongolia

More than 51,000 working holiday maker visas have been issued and more than 14,000 working holiday makers have arrived in Australia since 22 November 2021 when the Australian Government made an announcement on the reopening of the country’s borders to temporary visa holders.
