Skilled Migration occupation lists

Australia's skilled visa program is based on skilled occupation lists. These include occupations which are deemed in shortage in Australia, and for which overseas candidates with relevant skillsets are welcome.

What are Australia's skilled migration occupations lists?

Australia's skilled visa programs is based on the following skilled occupation lists:

  • Short-Term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL)
  • Medium and Long-Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL)
  • Regional Occupation List (ROL)

They are subject to a regular review to reflect the current labour demand and address genuine skill shortages in Australia.

The Priority Migration Skilled Occupations List was also introduced in 2020 to aid with Australia's economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.

STSOL

Short-term Skilled Occupation List

The Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL) consists of 215 occupations and applies to applicants who are nominated by a State or Territory government under Sc 190 visa (Skilled Nominated) or Sc 491 visa (Skilled Work Regional Provisional).
